BuscaPez Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 4, 2026

BuscaPez ("we", "us") provides the BuscaPez mobile app and the website buscapez.com, a field research tool for recording and identifying tuna specimens. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

1Data we collect

  • Account information: name and email address. Accounts are created by a project administrator; there is no public sign-up.
  • Research records you enter: species, measurements, weight, sex, capture method, notes, sample information, QR and tag codes, and the names of people involved in field work (for example taggers, anglers or vessels) when you choose to record them.
  • Location: the precise GPS location of a capture, read once when you register a specimen or sample, only while the app is in use. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Photos: images of specimens, samples, labels and codes that you take or select. Photos are uploaded as they are and may contain the metadata stored by your camera.

2Data that stays on your device

Species identification with artificial intelligence runs entirely on your device. Photos analyzed in the Identify section and their scan history are stored only on your device and are never sent to our servers.

3How we use data

We use your data only to provide the app's features: storing and synchronizing your research records, and making them available to you and to your research team. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across apps or websites. The app does not include analytics, advertising or third-party tracking tools.

4Public research records

Specimens can be labeled with a QR code. Scanning that code opens a public page with the specimen's research information so that data can be shared openly among researchers. Expedition administrators can choose which fields are hidden from these public pages.

5Storage and security

Data is stored on our servers and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We keep research records for as long as they are needed for the research project or until deletion is requested.

6Your rights and account deletion

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and personal data by writing to wxquevedo@inmersoft.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7Children

BuscaPez is intended for researchers and is not directed to children under 13.

8Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version.
